Langkawi-Day 2

We woke up at 7.30am and started the day with a wonderful internation breakfast buffet at the resort cafeteria. we had omelette for breakfast and immediately after that, we met up with our tour guide of the day. His name was Ah Char.



We began our sightseeing by opting for a river cruise followed by island expedition. At the pier side, Ah Char gave us some bananas and peanuts which we used to feed the monkeys. The monkeys seems to know this is a daily routine for them and waited patiently by the riverside for us to shower them with food.



Soon after that, we were brought to a bat's cave which was known to be the home to thousands of bats in Langkawi. However to our great disappointment, the bats were missing and we left the place disappointed to our next destination, a small fishing farm by the river.



Over there, we saw 2 large stingray in captivity and we were very amazed to see that the stingrays were actually quite well trained and obedient.



Up next, we proceed to another part of the river whereby the eagles congregates. The boatman started ramming the engine of the boat while we were there and later on, we learned from Ah Char the boatman was actually trying to attract the attention of the eagles. Thereafter, the boatman started throwing raw chicken skins into the river and we were treated to an amazing sight of hungry eagles feeding in the wild.



Our river cruise ended at around noon and we proceeded to Tanjong Rhu for our lunch. The beaches at Tanjong Rhu were simply awesome. Untainted bleach white sand covered the whole shoreline. After our heartening meal of Mee goreng, we started our land expedition and requested Ah Char to bring us to the Hot Spring where we would to have our 10 ringgit foot massage. The foot massage was a harrowing experience. It was very painful indeed and there were a couple of times whereby both myself and Jamie could barely hold on to our tears. However, after the massage we felt good about it and proceeded to our next destination.



The waterfall "Seven Well" was next. While we were there, Ah char told us that he would wait for us at the foot of the hill while Jamie and myself decided to take the unenviable task of walking up the hill. More than 600 steps were covered before we managed to reach the peak. The joy of reaching the peak was quickly overshadowed by the sight we saw at this nature wonder, the place was literally littered with rubbish and Jamie had the 'culprit' tag of adding to the gabbage by dropping her shades into one of the "well"! Hehehe..



After our tiring trip to the waterfall, we proceed to our last destination "Cable car" which is situated just beside our resort. The ride up the mountain on the cable car was indeed a spectacular yet scary experience . The sky was clear and after about 5 to 10 mins, we reached the top of the mountain which is abt 700m above ground level. The view on top of the mountain was indeed breathtaking. However, our trip up the highest peak in Langkawi on the cable car was spoilt by my digital camera not functioning due to low battery power. It was a big setback for us as we could only took a couple of picture right up there at the highest peak in Langkawi Island. Nevertheless, Jamie chatted up with some malaysian students and we even took one group photo with them. Well, sad to say, of course the picture was not taken using my camera.



Back at the resort, we decided to take a taxi van to Eagle Sqaure. We shared the taxi van with a Danish couple and got to learn from them that about the interesting things in Denmark. One of the thing which remains vividly in my mind was the cost of making a pair of spec which cost almost US$1k in their homeland.



After 45mins of road trip, we reach Eagle square and quickly proceeded to take some pictures of Langkawi landmark, The Eagle Sculpture. By than, the sun is setting and we decided to take our dinner in one of the shopping center nearby.



After our dinner, we went to the much talked about Kuah Town to visit the night market. However, to our disappointment, there are hardly anything to buy there.

We end up buying some chocolates from a nearby duty free shops and head back to our resort shortly after that.



We reached back to our resort at around 10pm and decided to hang around in the lounge area to listen to the performance singing some of our favourite songs. After awhile, our stomach starting rubmling again and we quickly head back to our chalet, wash up and call for room service again. hehehe...



What a hectic day we had.



Looking forward to our last day in Langkawi...
